Abstract

This study examined the impact of agricultural extension education on snail production in Uyo, Southeastern Nigeria. A survey design based on a 10 item structured researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data purposefully from 100 snail farmers which also constituted the study population. Means and standard deviation and t-test statistic was used to analyze data. Results showed that agricultural extension education had a significant (P<0.05) influence on the supply of basic production information to snail farmers as well as on improvement of their production capacity through enhanced knowledge in snail production techniques. It is recommended that while the state government should provide means of transportation for agricultural extension agents to intensify field visits, cell phones with radio should be provided or subsidized for farmers and television viewing centres opened for effective agricultural extension education.
